TriaVision Welcomes Carolyn Hebson, MD

Emily Williamson Sep 1, 2026

TriaVision is thrilled to announce that Carolyn Hebson, MD will officially join our team of doctors on September 14. Dr. Hebson will see patients at our Alabaster, Colonnade, Homewood, and Princeton locations, bringing her advanced surgical expertise to even more communities across the Birmingham metro area.

Meet Dr. Hebson

Dr. Hebson is a board-certified, dual fellowship-trained anterior segment surgeon with deep expertise in cataract surgery, incisional and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), cornea, refractive surgery, and complex anterior segment procedures. Her broad training allows her to manage everything from routine eye care to some of the most complex ophthalmic conditions, always with the meticulous, detail-oriented approach she's known for.

She earned her medical degree with honors from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, after completing her undergraduate studies in chemical engineering at Auburn University — graduating summa cum laude with numerous scholarships and academic honors along the way.

Dr. Hebson went on to complete her ophthalmology residency at Emory University School of Medicine, one of the country's most respected training programs. She then pursued not one but two fellowships to sharpen her surgical expertise:

  • A fellowship in Glaucoma, Cataract, and Anterior Segment Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta
  • A second fellowship in Cornea and External Disease, Cataract, Refractive, and Anterior Segment Surgeryat Baylor College of Medicine in Houston

That dual fellowship training — glaucoma and cornea — is rare, and it gives Dr. Hebson a uniquely comprehensive skill set for treating patients with overlapping or complex anterior segment conditions.

A Career Built on Advancing Eye Care

Throughout her career, Dr. Hebson has cared for patients across the Southeast and has played an active role in training Emory residents in surgical technique. Her research on the efficacy of minimally invasive glaucoma surgery has been widely recognized, and she has published peer-reviewed work on LASIK outcomes and hypotony associated with chronic uveitis.

Most recently, Dr. Hebson practiced at VisionAmerica in Birmingham, where she treated patients across cataract, glaucoma, and cornea specialties.
